TMCSEA's Behavior Support Department delivers comprehensive, ongoing behavioral support and training for our 21 member school districts. It is our goal to support TMCSEA's member districts in their efforts to design educational programming and behavior interventions that improve learning for all students. Services for our school districts are designed specifically for each system’s individual needs.
Behavior Support
The Behavior Specialist provides behavior consultation services for staff who request it. This is a collaborative process that involves observations, recommendations, modeling of interventions and strategies, planning sessions, and follow up support. To request assistance from the Behavior Specialist please fill out a Request for Services form located on the TMCSEA's website. To complete the form, mark Educational/Behavioral Strategies, turn in the completed form to Anne Risen, and submit any relevant behavior data to your District Special Education Coordinator.

What is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst is a master's level clinician with at minimum 750 hours of supervised experience in the field of applied behavior analysis. BCBAs must pass a rigorous and comprehensive exam in order to become nationally certified. Additional licensing can also be attained in some states to become an LBA or Licensed Behavior Analyst. Professionals who are certified at the BCBA level are independent practitioners who provide behavior-analytic services.

What is a Registered Behavior Technician?
A RBT is a paraprofessional who has completed a 40-hour training course and practices under the close and ongoing supervision of a BCBA. A RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior analytic services.

ABOUT BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS
Behavior Analysis is the scientific study of principles of learning and behavior. Two primary areas of study include the experimental analysis of behavior and applied behavior analysis. The experimental analysis of behavior is the basic science of the discipline and has, over many decades, accumulated a substantial and well-respected body of research literature on how behavior is learned and changes over time. The experimental analysis of behavior is the scientific foundation of applied behavior analysis (ABA). ABA is a systematic approach for influencing socially important behavior through the identification of reliably related environmental variables and the production of behavior change techniques that make use of those findings.
